New Ossoff Video Slams Mike Collins For Slashing Georgians’ Medicaid
Kara: “I reached out, and Mike Collins essentially told me Donald Trump’s plan was more important than these women and babies. I’m a registered Republican, but I’m voting for Jon Ossoff. He’s always fighting to protect women and children.”
Atlanta, Ga. — Less than one week before the end of early in-person voting Jon Ossoff for Senate released a new video, titled “Kara,” slamming Mike Collins’ vote to gut Medicaid in spite of the intense backlash from constituents in his congressional district.
Collins greenlit Trump’s unpopular budget law, which created a crisis for rural health care in Georgia. St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia – which is located in Collins’ congressional district – confirmed that Medicaid cuts “solidified” the decision to shutter the labor and delivery unit, and Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton announced that it may have to cut its ICU in light of a $3.3 million budget shortfall due to Trump’s budget law.
Kara, a registered Republican who is featured in the ad, saw her labor and delivery unit — the only one in four counties — shut down after Trump and Collins cut Medicaid, and said, “we were devastated because we know some of these babies won’t make it. I reached out, and Mike Collins essentially told me Donald Trump’s plan was more important than these women and babies.” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Kara “blames Collins, who voted for the cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”

In the Senate, Sen. Ossoff has fought to ban insurance companies from denying care Georgians need. Sen. Ossoff has also worked to protect Georgians’ Affordable Care Act tax credits. Meanwhile, Mike Collins is a Trump loyalist and MAGA extremist who describes himself as 100% MAGA and has voted with Trump 100% of the time.
The ad comes as Collins’ scandal-ridden campaign continues to collapse around him, after bombshell CNN reporting revealed that Collins has continued to allow the production of white nationalist and antisemitic content from his property. CNN also unearthed as part of this reporting that Collins promoted political violence in shocking and previously unreported comments where he said that “American military and political leaders deserved to be hanged from a helicopter,” and joked about pushing former Speaker Nancy Pelosi out of an airplane — similar to when he said immigrants should be thrown from helicopters to their deaths. The reporting builds upon the widely-reported ties between Collins and white nationalism, highlighting Collins’ ongoing praise for and years-long friendship with Arizona state Sen. Wendy Rogers, “the outspoken far-right Republican who was censured by her own state’s Republican-led Senate in March 2022 after speaking at a White nationalist conference and making inflammatory statements about her political enemies.”
