With One Day Left to Early Vote, Vice President Kamala D. Harris Campaigns for Georgia Democrats in Macon, Joins Sen. Ossoff for Mobilization Event in Atlanta

Vice President Harris in Macon: “We have five days left. We have a moment now to turn pain into purpose. We have a moment now to say that we see you, neighbor, and we know you can’t afford the price of gas or food or housing or childcare or healthcare, and we intend – with your help – to do something about that […].”

Sen. Jon Ossoff in Atlanta: “I want you to turn to the person next to you and ask, ‘Have you voted yet?’ I want you to turn to the person next to you and say, ‘If you haven’t voted yet, we’re going to vote right now.’ Because if we do everything we need to do for these next five days, for these next five days, we will change the course of American history.”

Atlanta, Ga. — Less than one week until Election Day, Vice President Kamala D. Harris campaigned today with Georgia Democrats in Macon before joining Senator Jon Ossoff for a mobilization event in Atlanta. With one day left to early vote, Vice President Harris and Sen. Ossoff rallied 800 students to vote early and in person.

Vice President Harris’ visit comes on the heels of recent reporting that Black and young voters “are heading to the polls at a significantly faster clip than during the last midterm election.” According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “early in-person voting among Black Georgians is up 33% compared with the first nine days of voting in 2022, while turnout among voters under 30 has jumped 54%. Among young Black voters, the increase is an eye-popping 80%.”  

This also follows a new poll that shows Ossoff’s strength with a high approval rating of 55% including strong support from independents, even after Republicans have spent millions of dollars on TV and digital ads targeting him. 

Earlier this year, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the Democratic Party of Georgia has built huge organizational strength under Ossoff’s leadership, having started the coordinated campaign earlier than ever before.

Sen. Jon Ossoff: “If we do everything we need to do for these next five days, for these next five days, we will change the course of American history. Not only will we be able to contain this man’s wickedness, but we will be able to do the work of healing the brokenness that gave rise to it.”
